However, if there has been an enlargement in the breast tissue due to the drugs or hormonal treatments used, the time of the surgery is determined by the course of these treatments. However, if the patient is left alone with excessively large breast tissue after the pregnancy period, the right time for breast reduction surgery is when the breastfeeding period is completed. Breast reduction surgery can be done easily every day of the year, seasonally or for a period of time, and patients experience a comfortable recovery period in every season and period.

It is important that the patient has shared his or her medical history with us before the surgery. In this way, we can learn whether there is an obstacle to receiving anesthesia or whether there is a sensitivity to some drugs. In addition to the medical history, if our patients are using various blood thinners, they should stop them approximately 10 days before the operation. Then, if smoking is used, quitting smoking approximately 7 to 10 days before the surgery will positively affect the healing process.

Breast reduction plastic surgery (Mammaplasty)

In breast reduction surgery, which is performed under general anesthesia and requires a 1-day hospital stay, incisions can be made from more than one place. The size of the incision and where it will be made vary according to the condition of the breast tissue. In breast reduction surgery, the excess tissue in the breast is removed after the incision, and then the excess skin that accompanies the excess tissue is removed. However, the nipple, which I call the areola, is moved to the place where it should be according to the new breast form. In this way, a taut, firmed and harmonious breast form is obtained. In some patients, it may be necessary to use the liposuction technique for excess adipose tissue extending to the armpit during surgery.

Will there be any scars after breast reduction surgery?

As in every aesthetic operation performed with breast reduction surgery, a scar remains. However, within 1 year of the operation, this scar first becomes red, then brown, and finally becomes paler and becomes close to the skin tone, and the appearance of the scar is reduced as much as possible.

What should be considered after breast reduction surgery?

Mild pain and swelling in the chest area after the operation is expected. This situation, which we can easily control thanks to painkillers, eases and passes in a few days. Especially in the first week of the operation, patients should not tire themselves, protect their chest areas from possible traumas, and should not insult their arms too much. These effects pass within 5 to 7 days on average. Dressing is done 2-3 days after the operation and then the patient is asked to wear a special sports bra. In order for the breast tissue to take its new shape, it is important to use the bra correctly and regularly. The patient should use the sports bra regularly for at least 2 months. The patient needs a maximum of 2 weeks to return to business life. Heavy sports activities should be avoided for about 3 months. Breast tissue takes its final shape after 6 months.
